About to head off

I have been in Brisbane for a bout 5 weeks.
It has been a busy time with helping the kids. There always seems to be something to do. For example I renovated an outdoor setting for Ashleigh, helped her s hift in to a new place, helped Michael with stuff todo with his car.

I have been set up here well and now are organised to travel. Looking forward to having a couple of weeks fishing, hopefully catching some.

I will be leaving next Wednesday to travel north.

Will update the blog as I go.

Leaving Texas

I am leaving for Brisbane today.  I have had a great time here at Texas.  It has been 3 nights here and I could have been here for a lot longer. Having walked around town yesterday it was easy to see that without the travellers this town would hurt. They , the shopkeepers are extremely appreciative of the travellers and their money.I have put some photos here of my stay. Will travel to Fassifern today and hit Brisbane tomorrow.

Flood debris in the bridge which is about 9 Mts above the river height. Must be great floods.

Guinea fowl come every morning looking for food.

Mendooran to Texas

What a day. After spending yesterday inside watching tv, due to it being so cold, I made osso bucco ( if that is how you spell it) in the camp oven. It was good and I got to use the camp oven for the first time.

I was going to get up early this morning but ended sleeping in until 8. Amazing, to be able to sleep so long. Anyhow, got going by 9.45 and decided to head all the way to Texas. It was freezing cold and the wind blowing a gale. Not much fun. So heavy driving all day and finally made it to Texas at about 4.45. I am going to stay here for a few days and organise when I should go to Brisbane. Haven't set much up tonight and will organise everything tomorrow. will post a few pics of the place also.

Here is todays travel.

Forbes to Mendooran

Today left Forbes around 9.30. What a way to start the day. Up around 7.30, breakfast and then getting ready. A lot stress. It rained most of the night at Forbes, so was really wet outside this morning.
Glad to get away and started heading to Mendooran. A nice free camp about 500mts from the town. Will go for a walk to town this afternoon and will then have a bit more to report.

A photo of my setup at Mendooran ( there is optus here).

Walked around Mendooran this afternoon, an interesting old country town. Very quiet and some interesting buildings. Thinking of driving straight through to Texas tomorrow ( Friday ) and then spending a couple of days until heading to Brisabne.

Here are some photos of Mendooran city centre.

Heading to Gold Coast 2014

About to head north. I have just finished changing the bearings on one of the wheels on the caravan. Also found a leak in one of the water tanks, so will have to fix that before I leave. Getting really close now.

About to head North

It is the 15th July and I have left Holbrook and have travelled to Forbes for the night. If you have been reading the blog, you will know that the last time I was here, the awning blew off and cost me a fortune ( even with insurance).

Arrived here after 4 1/2 hours ( took it slowly), only to find it had been raining here for a while and it is all mud. Anyhow, I have found a reasonable spot that isn't too wet. Had to use 4WD to get around it is that muddy. All went well though.

It was a slow drive due to beig wet and held up by some slow drivers ( I cant pass when towing the van).
